Rhinoplasty & Septoplasty Gallery
Here we have a patient in her twenties with long-standing nasal obstruction and sinus problems. She had a severely deviated septum. She was also planning a wedding and wanted her nasal appearance improved with wedding photos in mind. She had a slight dorsal hump and an under-rotated, over-projected nasal tip. She also felt that her nasal dorsum was overly wide. To improve her nasal appearance and her breathing, she underwent an open rhinoplasty. These postoperative photos were taken six weeks following her procedure. Her breathing was much improved and she was thrilled with the improvement in the outside of her nose.
Here we have a patient in her late teens who had fallen and broken her nose about four months before coming in. She had formed a bump on her nose and couldn’t breathe through the left side. She had a large dorsal hump and a deviated septum. These were managed through a closed approach. Her post-operative photos were taken six weeks after her procedure. Her breathing was improved and she was very glad to be rid of her dorsal hump.
Here we have a patient in her thirties who came to Dr. Schmidt for a rhinoplasty. She wanted a smaller nose with a more defined tip. She had a large, wide nose with a moderately large dorsal hump and a boxy nasal tip. These were managed through an open approach. She loves her new nose! Her nasal tip went from a box to a nice triangle, her nose is smaller, and her breathing is good. The post-operative photos were taken four months after her procedure.
This patient in her twenties had long-standing nasal obstruction and headaches. She also was bothered by the twisted appearance of the base of her nose. She had a severely deviated septum that was sticking out in to her right nostril. This was managed with an open rhinoplasty where we rebuilt her septum.
After the surgery, her breathing was greatly improved and she was very pleased with her new, straighter, nose.
This patient came to me with long-standing nasal obstruction and snoring. He also had concerns about the outside of his nose. He wanted his nose straighter. His nose was somewhat rounded in profile. He was also concerned about some asymmetry of his columella when viewed from the front- his right medial crus was slightly lower than the left. He was also very clear that he wanted a natural look after surgery. He underwent an open rhinoplasty to address his breathing and nasal appearance. His breathing was greatly improved and he was extremely satisfied with the improvement in his nasal appearance. The postoperative photos were taken over a year following his procedure.

This patient had suffered a nasal fracture that resulted in a severely deviated septum and an extremely large dorsal hump. He wanted to breathe better and wanted the hump removed. We achieved these through an open approach. With smaller dorsal humps, we can usually remove them through incisions placed only inside the nose. However, with larger humps you risk collapse of the nose and nasal obstruction without combining the hump removal with reconstructive techniques which can require an open approach. His postoperative photos were taken about eighteen months following his surgery. We achieved a nice improvement in his breathing and his nasal appearance while successfully preventing nasal collapse with our reconstructive procedure.
This patient suffered from long-term nasal obstruction and sinus problems. She needed a septoplasty and sinus surgery, but she also decided that she wanted to have an aesthetic improvement as well. She disliked the boxy appearance of her nasal tip and was concerned that her nasal tip would collapse as she aged. We did not want to make her nose significantly smaller or more narrow so that it remained in balance with her other facial features. After another surgeon performed sinus surgery, we straightened her septum and then worked on her nasal tip. The cartilage from her septum was used to strengthen her nasal tip cartilages and prevent collapse with age. Her nasal tip cartilages also had knobs (the technical name is “bossae”) that we removed. Her postoperative photos were taken six months following her surgery. We achieved a subtle improvement in her nasal tip and her breathing was improved.
