The head and the neck are common areas for skin cancers. If you have a lesion that you’re concerned about, you don’t need to have a biopsy before coming to see us. Most skin cancers are removed in the operating room where a pathologist can evaluate the specimen before Dr. Schmidt repairs the defect.

Dr. Schmidt participates in facial trauma surgery coverage for our local Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers. If you have a facial fracture, we will usually wait a week before determining if surgery is necessary.

Unfortunately, facial reconstruction cannot be done without leaving scars. Our goal is that the scar is as invisible as possible. If you have  a scar that is at least six weeks old, we are happy to evaluate it for scar revision.
